Miniatures!
I'm taking a break from cakes for a bit to do miniatures. If I were to open a bakery right now, I think I would specialize in miniatures...everything looks so tasty in miniature! I've found they're somewhat time-consuming, though.
But here are the first set. From the left, friands (almond sponge cake), meringue bubbles (chocolate meringue on a butter cookie), macarons (french cookie with buttercream).

Fantastic! Especially the meringue bubbles. Both the butter cookie part and the meringue were perfect. The macarons were a tad salty but really, all of these miniatures are so tasty I can't get enough of them.

ara says: I love the texture of the meringue bubbles and the macarons
matt says: very interesting cookies. I liked the almond ones the best, although they were all good. I don't think I've ever had these types of cookies before....the textures really add a lot.

Meringue bubbles were absolutely phenomenal! I am reallly impressed with this batch. Everything about these cookies screamed gourmet.

I really liked the macaroons and the friands. I wasn't quite sure what was going on with the meringue bubbles. I thought the texture of the meringue was strange - but I don't know if that's my personal lack of experience with the cookies or an intrinsic quality.

The macarons gave me a nice warm, fluffy feeling inside - I really liked the light airiness.

Bubble me baby! I think those were fun - it's kinda like having a party in your mouth. The butter cookies were really good too - though not as exciting as the bubbles. Someone ate all the macarons, but from the comments, they sound good!

I have not tasted better "miniatures" before. In fact, I don't recall ever tasting a minature that was baked or not made by machines. I especially liked the friands and my favorite was the macarons. They was just the right moisture and sweetness. The texture of the macarons was heavenly. I didn't like the meringue bubbles as much as the other two. The cookie underneath was kind of too buttery from what I'm used to and left my mouth kind of dry. Thanks for the delicious treats nonetheless!

Only a lone friand remained when I went to sample, but it was wonderfully moist and flavorful. Everything is better in miniature.

Yo, the friand I had was excellent - moist and tasty. Les macarons were a close second place.
