caramel apples
When I saw these crab apples at Berkeley Bowl, I couldn't resist. I love caramel apples, and of course, I love miniatures! My dad used to assemble little fruit plates for me made of currants (like tiny grapes), crab apples, and kumquats, to accompany my breakfast of sunny-side up quail eggs and silver dollar pancakes.

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about the crab apples because I thought they were going to be sour. I went for it anyways and was pleasantly surprised to find the sweet apple and sweet caramel complimenting each other. I would prefer green apples with caramel because the bitterness of them goes well with the caramel but these minis were awesome. I wish they weren't so small because I wanted to eat more!
